Today’s episode is featuring Erin Fischer, a wife, mom, and small business owner residing in a tiny town in Oklahoma. I recently connected with Erin on social media, and I instantly fell in love with not only her enjoyable sense of humor, but her message surrounding homesteading, and why it’s something that is totally attainable for everyone. While Erin is a born and raised city girl, she always envisioned a life like she has now. She feels deeply connected to the land she calls home, and is truly embracing her role as (what she refers to herself) a ‘crappy homesteader’.

We’re talking all about how to begin homesteading in today’s episode, and why this doesn’t have to be a perfectly done, one-size-fits-all type of thing. We’re discussing how it can look to find your unique balance with homesteading, taking the steps to actually start your homesteading journey, the pure joy and gratification that can result from sharing and building community with others, why bulk shopping can be a major game changer for you and your family, and more.

Homesteading doesn’t have to be this complex, backbreaking stigma that many people associate it with - it’s more about staying authentic to you, and knowing what you want to get out of it. Being okay with pivoting when you need to, not only with homesteading pursuits, but other areas in your life too, is SO necessary, depending on what season of life you’re in. I personally love homesteading, and am excited to see where it takes me as I dive into it more. Wherever you are on your homesteading journey, I know you’ll love this fun, light-hearted conversation with Erin, and all that she has to share!

Erin Fischer resides in small town Douglas, Oklahoma, with her husband, Bryan, son, Brannock, and one more baby love due early February 2024. She immensely enjoys growing her large vegetable garden, scratch cooking for her friends and family, checking cattle, spoiling her seven chickens, a good cowboy hat, and most anything outdoors. Add in a glass of wine and she may never come back inside! She shares all of this and more on her personal homesteading Instagram and blog, @thefischerupper.
